FAQ
Frequenty Asked Questions - Dentists in Poland
A: Prices for most services are cheaper in Poland mainly because Poland is a low-economy country. Salaries in Poland are lower than in the Western Europe and therefore services, rent, overheads and other consumable goods are usually cheaper. Although costs of services in Poland have increased since country’s accession to the EU in 2004, they are still much lower than in other developed nations such as UK or Ireland. One hour of dentist’s time in Poland cost on average 300 PLZ (60 GBP) but in the UK the cost goes up to 250 GBP per hour. To compare dentistry costs please go to our dental calculator
Q: Is the quality of dental work lower in Poland than in the UK?
A: No. Our UK or other European patients can testify that the quality of work performed in our clinics and level of customer service is higher from what they had experienced in their local clinics (Please go to dental case study or dental testimonials sections on our website to see more). As a member of EU Poland complies with the strict EU medical regulations, which are the same for each state. In terms of dental materials, only the best and certified products are used in our practises in Poland. Dentists in Poland’s clinics additionally provide the guarantee for all of the treatments at no extra cost. Only the best dental surgeries in the UK provide the same, long guarantee free of charge.
Q: How many visits to Poland are required to complete my treatment?
A: It depends on the treatment. Usually two 2-3 days or one longer trip are enough to complete most of the work including bridges, crowns veneers or root canal work. However, if there are multiple extractions, number of missing teeth with the bone loss or other complications an additional trip might be needed.
Q: How much do hotels in Krakow cost?
A: 2 star hotels away from the city centre cost as little as £28 per night. 3 star hotels in the vicinity to the city centre cost about £40 per night. 4 star hotels in the centre start from £70 per night.
Q: What if something goes wrong after the treatment?
A: If the dental problem occurs after the treatment has been finished in our clinic we’ll fix it free of charge, providing that the guarantee conditions have been met. Sometimes we might even contribute to the cost of the hotel or flight if the fault is on our side. Please note however that cases where the guarantee needs to be claimed are extremely rare and since we’ve started working with foreign patients 5 years ago, we’ve only had three such cases (among hundreds of satisfied patients). We always make sure our diagnosis is correct prior the treatments and we take additional precautions (i.e. CT scans, X rays, blood tests, medical history checks) to ensure that complications do not happen after the dental work has been completed in our surgeries.
Q: Is Krakow the biggest city in Poland?
A: Krakow is not the biggest city in Poland but it is certainly the most popular one. There is a thriving tourism industry in the city with hundreds of hotels, restaurants, pubs and many other attractions. The Old Town in Krakow is among the biggest tourism attractions in the country that has been listed as the UNESCO heritage site. Salt Mine in Wieliczka, Auschwitz museum or Tatra mountain range are just a few of the other popular places in the Krakow area.
Q: Are dentures the only method to restore missing teeth?
A: No. There are other, more durable and comfortable solutions to missing teeth. Patients can additionally choose to restore missing teeth using dental implants or bridges attached to their existing teeth. Each of these methods is more comfortable and durable than any conventional denture. For more details please visit Missing teeth options section on this website.
Q: How many foreigners travel abroad to obtain a dental treatment?
A: Based on our experiences with foreign patients we believe that thousands of Brits alone visit Krakow every year to get their teeth done. There is a significant difference between dentistry costs in the UK or Ireland and countries such as Poland where prices for services are much lower. Cost aspect is the main driver for this type of tourism although there are other reasons that convince patients to travel abroad, such as dentists’ dedication to patient, no waiting lists and ease to get around.
Q: Crown or veneer?
A: It depends on the tooth structure, level of damage and the anticipated outcome. The treatment process is slightly different for crowns and veneers although the end result is often very similar. Patients with an overbite are not recommended to have veneers fitted. Crowns (also known as caps) are more durable and will last longer but more of the tooth surface is trimmed away to accommodate the crown.
