Guarantee and Safety » Mini dental guide on dentistry abroad
Credentials of the clinic
Any patient seeking a dental treatment abroad should check the standards of the clinic where the treatment is to be performed. We advice our patients to ask questions about standards of clinics, professional accreditations and certificates (ISO accreditations etc) and the quality of equipment used. The good way to start is to check the clinic’s website for any information about the clinic, pictures etc. In case of any further questions patients should contact the clinic directly. It is in a dental clinic’s interest to reassure potential patients and give the accurate statement about clinic’s credentials. Additionally, each country has the professional regulatory body which oversees its private clinics (ie Healthcare Commission in the UK) and the information about dental clinics can be obtained there.
Dentist qualifications and experience
It is important to check dentists qualifications and their experience before going abroad for a dental treatment. Dentists should be registered with their country’s professional associations ie ‘General Dental Council’ in the UK and ‘The Polish Chamber of Physician and Dentists’ in Poland.
Many other countries have similar associations which regulate the qualification and accreditation of dentists. It is also advisable to check dentists’ experience before you go. Usually dentists provide their professional work history on request so patients should ask for it.
All dentists in ‘Dentists in Poland’ are registers with ‘The Polish Chamber of Physician and Dentists’ and have long and successful dental experience.
Guarantee
Standards of legal protection and guarantee for patients vary from country to country. Dental practises give guarantee on the treatments that have been performed in their clinics i.e. Dental implants – 7 years, dental crowns – 3 years. Usually the longer the guarantee, the better quality of work as dentists are more confident that their dental work will last longer It is advisable to clarify with dentists the clauses of the guarantee regarding after care and cases if something goes wrong.
Dentists in Krakow clinics offer one of the longest dental guarantees available in the EU, for example: 5 year guarantee on dental crowns and 10 years on dental implants.
Additionally, Poland has to adhere to strict EU dental rules and regulations which also guarantee the high standard of dentistry. Same high EU dental standards need to be met in all member states, regardless weather it is Poland or the UK.

Travel arrangements
Once the patient has decided to travel abroad for a dental consultation or treatment, he / she has to think about the logistics of the trip. Usually all the information required i.e flights, hotels, things to do etc are available on the Internet. Flight costs depend on the destination but generally flights to EU from the UK can be purchased for £40 - £80. Accommodation costs can vary dramatically and usually depends on the quality of the hotel and its distance from the city centre. Some dental companies offer full service packages that include accommodation, transfers and consultations.
For peace of mind for our patients Dentists in Poland offers customised packages that include transfers, 2 night accommodation in a cosy hotel close to the Old Town, consultation, X-rays and care of an English speaking representative for only £99.
How to compare prices
When comparing prices offered by different dental treatments providers, patients should compare the full cost of the treatment, not just the costs for the part of it. For example, the cost of an implant (surgical part) is very similar in Poland or Hungary (£500). The cost of the full implant reconstruction however is higher and can range from £900 – 1200 depending on the prosthetic material used. Patients should also compare other, minor dental treatments such us root canal as these are often required before any major dental work can be undertaken.
The best way to find out the full cost of the treatment is to ask the clinics directly. Dentists will then be able to give an estimated quote for the required treatments.
Dentists in Krakow have a very transparent pricing policy. We strive to give every patient couple of different treatment options (depending on the budget) and we always provide the full cost of the treatment
