Questions on missing teeth
Why missing teeth should be replaced?
Replacing a missing tooth or a set of teeth does not only improve the aesthetic of your smile and general appearance but also have a positive effect on the overall dental health. Gaps left by missing teeth are prone to infections. The structure of the bone in your jaw changes as the bone under the missing tooth shrinks over time. Also, the additional pressure is applied on the remaining teeth when chewing food and this can lead to the damage of the healthy teeth. Gaps left by missing tooth or set of teeth also negatively affect the bite and some facial muscles.
Missing tooth replacement options:
There are a few options available to patients with missing teeth. Some people might prefer to leave the gap empty after the tooth has fallen out or been extracted. Although, it is an option that some people opt in for, dentists will not approve it. The negative health effects of missing teeth usually appear after few years, but the damage done to the neighbouring teeth, bone and the bite will make the restoration process more difficult and expensive if teeth are left untreated for a longer period of time.
The following treatment options are available for patients with missing tooth or set of teeth:
Implants
A dental implant is a metal rod that is inserted into the bone under the missing tooth. A false crown is screwed permanently onto an implant. Implants are probably the best solution for missing teeth although certain conditions need to be met. Missing teeth restoration on implants tends to be more expensive than other alternative solutions such us dentures or bridges. Implants, however, are the most natural and durable option for missing tooth replacement. Implants are the only stable and permanent solution available to toothless patients.
Dentists in Poland clinics specialise in implantology treatments. Single implants insertions start from £560, which is at least 50% cheaper than for similar treatments in the UK or Ireland.

Bridges
Dental bridges are also commonly used from missing teeth restorations. A bridge, made of single crowns fused together, is permanently attached using special dental cement to your existing, natural teeth on either side of the gap. Dental bridges are usually made of porcelain and precious metals and are mostly used for smaller restoration of one or two missing teeth. However, bridges can also be used for bigger scale restoration, although a patient needs to have at least 6 natural teeth remaining in the jaw. Bridges provide a very good solution for missing teeth, providing the adjacent teeth are in a relatively good state. There are quite a few types of bridges available. Bridges last on average between 10 to 15 years.
Dental bridges can be fitted in Dentists in Poland clinics from as little as £185 per unit (for porcelain fused on metal crowns) It comes with a guarantee.
