Dental crowns, also known as caps, are used to protect damaged or broken teeth. Crowns are often used when a large proportion of the tooth has fractured and it can’t be rebuilt using fillings. They are also used after the root canal treatment to strengthen the tooth or for cosmetic reasons to improve the asthetics of your smile.
Although crowns can be made of various materials such us gold, most commonly porcelain is used. Standard crowns used by Dentists in Poland are porcelain fussed on metal which cost £185. Fully porcelain crowns cost just £290,
In order for a tooth to be crowned, the dentist prepares the tooth by cleaning it and removing any decay. The next stage is taking the impression of the tooth and giving it to the dental technician to fabricate. It takes between three to six working days for our laboratory technician to custom-produce your new crown. During this time, our dentist will fit you with a temporary crown to protect your prepared tooth Once fabricated, the crown is permanently cemented onto earlier prepared tooth.
Usually, two short, 3 day visits are required to have the crown fitted.
Dental bridges, also known as false tooth or fixed partial denture, are used to replace missing tooth or a number of teeth. The false tooth is joined with two crowns that act as anchors by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth. In case of extensive missing teeth replacement, dental implants are used to support bridges.
The procedure of fitting dental bridges is almost identical to that of a dental crowns. The teeth on either side are cleaned and trimmed away to make space for new crowns. Once the whole area is prepared, the dentist takes the impressions which will be used to fabricate the bridge and crown in the laboratory. A temporary bridge is also fitted to protect exposed teeth.
On the second visit, the fabricated bridge is fitted, adjusted and then permanently cemented.
There are many different types of bridges, depending on the manufacturing process and the way they anchor to the neighboring teeth. The materials used for the bridges include gold, porcelain fused to metal and fully made of porcelain. The costs for a dental bridge with Dentists in Poland starts from £510 for a three unit bridge. Usually, two short, 3 day visits are required.
