White fillings in Poland
Amalgam fillings in the lower jaw can often be seen when we talk or laugh. But amalgam fillings can also sometimes be seen in the upper jaw. These can be unsightly and can also discolour the tooth. Composite (White) fillings are available to improve this.
White fillings
White fillings (also known as composite resin) are made of tooth coloured plastic material mixed with glass. White fillings are preferred over amalgam fillings mainly due to improved aesthetic qualities. With composite resin, the dentist can blend shades so almost the identical colour to that of the actual tooth is created. Composite fillings are preferred not only because of better aesthetics but also because less drilling is required so the dentist can save a lot of the original tooth structure. Composites are mainly used for decayed or damaged areas but can also be used for discoloured or disfigured teeth. The white fillings are strong enough to be placed in the back teeth, which wasn’t the case 30 years ago. They last on average between 8 to 10 years.
In the UK, composite fillings are classified as a part of cosmetic dentistry therefore they are not available on NHS. White fillings can only be fitted in private dental clinics in the UK. Cost depends on the size of the filling and the location of the dental practise. On average however, white fillings cost from £150 per tooth in the UK clinics. Prices of white fillings with Dentists in Poland start from only £45 per tooth.
